Our farm is our total passion, and absorbs most of our time when we’re not out on the clifftops or in the ocean. We grow nearly everything from seed, and pride ourselves on using absolutely no pesticides or chemicals. Our defence against snails? Beer traps! So, instead of sadly sprayed seeds, we have lots of slightly drunk snails that we then set free in the wild lands behind our farm.
Depending on the time of year, you’ll be served seasonal produce. So, that might mean in the winter months, we’ll cobble together a “chocolate salami cake". This traditional Portuguese delight is made using the almonds and the carob seeds (ground into a flour) from the farm. But, don’t worry vegetarians, there's no real salami in sight - it's essentially a chocolate biscuit cake.
In summer, we’ve got a ridiculous array of fresh produce for you to sample. Not only do we have our garden farm, we have an orchard with tons of trees (including 47 avocado trees!) and ten free-range chickens who kindly lay the hard-boiled eggs for the hikes. From Chick-era to Hen-rietta, they all have names and are dearly loved, except when they eat all the herbs!
Hike Algarve prides itself on our ability to serve hungry hikers with authentic Portuguese produce. As such, if you want to taste traditional Portuguese dishes, homegrown and swirled into daily delicacies, you’ve come to the right place.
