Algarvian trails swirl out across the land like soft, sandy arteries offering a wealth of options for a hankering hiker.

One can plod along the coast, cudding dust underfoot accompanied by the surf hissing on a hot shore, or tread trails inland, thickly edged with wildflowers and a blissful blue horizon blooming in nearly all directions.
​
For those intrigued to trace Portuguese history and culture on foot: a sumptuous selection of hikes sprawl out across the Algarve, harking back to her historical roots. All these hikes reveal the oft-hidden historical heritage and quintessential customs of the area.

We've highlighted a few possible options but all coastal hikes are customisable.

1. Lagos to Luz
Duration: 4 hours
2. Burgau to Ponta da Piedade
Duration: 4.5/5 hours
3. Figueria to Sagres
Duration: 6 hours
4. Cabanas Velhas to Luz
Duration: 3 hours

Please do note, this hike takes around 12/14 hours so we’ll need to set off very early indeed!
